ALESSANDRO SIMONCINI

_
Alessandro Simoncini graduated with top marks and honours from the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, under the guidance of M. Paolo Borciani. He attended M. Franco Rossi's school of chamber music at the Conservatory of Florence for over three years. He soon began his concert activity in Italy and abroad, performing at the "incontri di Musica" in Bardonecchia under the direction of M. Carlo Zecchi, at the "Musicanalisi" concerts at La Fenice in Venice under the direction of M. Messinis, at the tours of the "Nuovi Virtuosi di Roma" (France, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Japan) and the "Solisti Veneti" with whom he still collaborates today, recording records and giving concerts all over the world. He was a member of the jury for the Vittorio Veneto violin competition and the Tortona international competition.
Since 1982, he has dedicated himself to the string quartet with his brother Luca, Luigi Mazza and Demetrio Comuzzi. Together he formed the Giovane Quartetto Italiano (now the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano), a name suggested by Maestros Paolo Borciani, Elisa Pegreffi, Piero Farulli and Franco Rossi, who took care of the preparation, first as an individual and then as a quartet.
The Quartet soon earned the highest honours: for two consecutive years the Diploma d' honour at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, the Accademia Pescarese and the StaathicheMusikoschule in Karlsruhe.  He won the Dragoni Prize of the Fiesole Music School.
He has performed in the most important musical institutions in Italy and abroad (Europe, Japan, United States, Soviet Union).
The Quartet has collaborated for a decade with tenor Jose' Carreras in prestigious world tours and since 1993 with singer-songwriter Franco Battiato in all his concerts and recordings.
He has collaborated in chamber music ensembles with numerous artists: pianists Mario Borciani, Maurizio Zanini, Boris Petruschansky, Roberto Cappello, Bruno Rigutto, guitarist Stefano Grondona, clarinetists G. Depeyer, P. Meyer, E. Daniels, Corrado Giuffredi, violists Danilo Rossi and Fabrizio Merlini, cellist Enrico Dindo, with the Borodin Quartet and with the Mozart Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado.
For his recordings he has received the highest honours from specialist critics: Stella d' oro, CHOC de la MUSIQUE, Prestige, Gran Prix de Disque, with Claves, EMI, ADDA, NUOVA ERA.
Alessandro Simoncini teaches violin at the Conservatorio A. Buzzolla in Adria.
